With its steep mountains covered by chestnut, oak and beech, Eastern Tuscany is an area of unique scenic beauty. Crossing through the landscape in autumn, - the season for mushrooms and truffles, you will find stalls along most of the roads.
Quite a few monastic buildings are to be found in the old mountainous woodlands, i.e. La Verna, Camaldoli and Vallombrosa.
