Locations Gard
The Gard department borders the Hérault, Lozère, Aveyron, Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse and Ardèche departments. Gard extends from the highest mountain in the department, Mont Aigoual (1567 m) in the north to the Mediterranean Sea in the south, from the Cevennes in the west to the Rhône in the east. Gard is the only department in Languedoc-Roussillon that borders the Provence region to the east. Gard therefore has more in common with Provence than the other departments of Languedoc-Roussillon.
Gard offers exciting historical and cultural monuments, small walled villages, a beautiful, varied landscape with the Cevennes in the west, the beautiful, child-friendly sandy beaches in the south and the unique marshland in the Rhône delta to the Mediterranean.
