House in Le Barroux

La Grande Vue is set in one of the most beautiful corners of France, in the 12th century hilltop village Le Barroux, 30 minutes north east of Avignon. An old castle overlooks the village with its narrow streets and stone houses. The house, which was originally 2 farmhouses, has wide panoramic views from the main house. Old beams, tiled floors, big fireplaces combined with antique furniture and modern design create the very special atmosphere of the house.

On the ground floor of the main house a triple French door leads to the outside. The spacious bedroom with its own fireplace, original stone staircase and stone basin was in the old days a space for silkworm production. Behind the bedroom there is a beautiful big arched room with the old well in the corner and the tiled “cuve” for wine production in the bottom.

Here you will find the comfortable sitting room with its big fireplace, stereo and a 4m long canapé. From the window you have a wide view to the mountains. In wintertime cooking in the fireplace is a pleasing escape.

3 steps up from the sitting room you enter the separate kitchen / dining room which is also the atmosphere filled main entrance room to the house. The kitchen is fully equipped with a double steel Smeg stove and 2 refrigerators.

An open staircase next to the glass entrance door leads to the upper floors. The second spacious bedroom with an own sitting area is at the front of the house and has a spectacular view of the Mont Ventoux and the countryside. On this floor there is also a big bathroom / dressing room with a shower, bath, in built hand basin and washing machine, a very big wardrobe and a separate toilet. The open plan staircase leads to the study and bedroom upstairs. The library offers books in Danish, French and English including divers guidebooks of the area. Enjoy the view over the village rooftops and the Château du Barroux from the bedroom and study ;This room is a great escape, with panoramic views over to the Mont Ventoux and the Château rising up majestically behind.Big glass doors lead to the terrace with its olive trees, flowers and unique views.

The house is unsuitable for children under the age of 10.
